3,4,5 Year Olds Having A Play Date

Friday Adri, Eric and I went to Sue's to get the little ones together for a play date. At first the girls weren't too sure about the "boy" that had come to play but quickly warmed up. I wanted to do a slideshow but once again Rockyou is down so you get a collage instead. I look at the pictures and just smile remembering the fun! I loved when Gabe swam over to Stephanie and asked her "what's your name?" When she told him Stephanie he said "Nice to meet you Stephanie". Oh,it was sooo adorable! They swam, jumped in together, pushed each other in, fought over the string on the boat (even Adri chimed in on that one), played with bubbles, were monkeys on the gym set, and did beautiful drawings in chalk. I think the adults were more exhausted than the kids! Poor Sue. What was she doing while we were having all this fun? Working! Not the whole time, but she did get a couple hours in.

A Tornado?

Sue called and said there was a funnel cloud hanging over Montverde but I had too many trees in the way so I hopped in my car and quickly drove up to her house. Sure enough there was something going on. When I got home Adri had called and said that there was a tornado watch for Montverde. It looks skinny and I hope it wasn't overaything where damage could have happened. Sorry about the spots on the pictures. It seems the camera's sensor has gotten dirty during the lens changing and I have to take it in for a cleaning.
11:09 pm A Little update. On the 11 o'clock news they confirmed it was just a water spout (That is what Sue was calling it). It was hard to tell where it was exactly but they are saying it was over Lake Apopka. No mention of the other one that formed or the third one that was forming. I need to read up on water spouts, they start in the clouds and go to the ground? No tornado touched down anywhere.

Missing any plant tags?

Today Rick was trimming the loquat tree and happened to notice a bird nest up in the higher branches. He came in to see if I wanted to see something amusing. I went out and had to come back in for the camera. This innovative bird had stolen Rick's plumeria tags! Not an easy task as he twists them on with wire. Here he was thinking he was going crazy because plants weren't tagged that he "knew" he had already done. I hope you all get a chuckle from this pick-I don't think you hve to be a plant person to appreciate it.

Baby Squirrels

When I came home the other day I heard a strange noise in the tree. I wondered what kind of bird it was and went to the tree. Much to my surprise it was a young squirrel crying for mommy. They are very noisy when mommy leaves them to fend for themselves! Here is the noisy one.

The babies are definitely leaving their nests and making it to our feeders. Here is a decent shot of one. Note its stummpy tail. All along I have been wondering what happened to the tail on the older male but now I am thinking it is a genetic defect.

I was leaving for an appt today and there was a young one at the feeder and another coming to feed. They got in a tussle and ran off. Oh well, I had an appointment anyway.

The 4th

I hope every one had a safe 4th of July! Rick Bar-B-Qued, yummmmmy! We didn't buy any fireworks, it is pointless when so many neighbors go and get the illegal ones and shoot them over the pond behind our house! I tried several different settings on the camera, blindly as it was pitch black, and these are 2 that turned out ok.
