More Hawk pics

On the way home from walking Miss Red, I saw the hawk on my mailbox. I took the long way home to avoid scaring it off and grabbed the camera (not an easy task as it was packed ready to go to Thailand!) walked around the back praying it would still be there. It was! Alas it flew off just as I was focusingon it but I got a few pics. These are the ones I like the best.

Islands of Adventure

Kara came out for a dance competition as an Alternate for the Varsity Song team (she is on the JV Song squad). While we are happy no one was injured or violently ill it sure would have been great to see her perform! Have to wait until next year! We, meaning Adri and I, went and met her at the airport while she waited for her luggage and the coach to get the rental cars, and I went to the hotel for a brief (like 5-10 mins) hello after their practice the next day, and we went to the competition on Sat. It turned out that even though we never met up with the parents we sat in the perfect spot! Kara came out with the coach and was standing right behind us for some time so we got a little visiting in. Adri and I also did some of the fast rides at Islands of Adventure (oh, did I mention it was at Universal?). Then on Sunday we decided to skip the finals (they placed first in pom) and wait for a call from Kara. The coach finally decided they didn't need extra security and let me take Kara! She, Adri and I went to Islands of Adventure. The other girls came all the way from Calif to ...... sunbathe at the pool. They live like 10 minutes from the beach. Oh well, whatever. We at least got to spend a few hours riding the roller coasters and having a great time.

A Squirrel Story

The other day I went out front and I noticed a squirrel up on the birdfeeder. Red was under it just watching. I thought to myself that I should go and get my camera and at that moment the squirrel fell off the feeder! I am not sure who was more surprised..... the squirrel or Red. It landed right on top of her!! They ended up a tumbling ball of fur. I am screaming at Red afraid she will hurt it or worse get hurt herself. The squirrel ran off and up a tree. I went out back to check Red. She did not have any wound but her face had a wet mark on it. When she came in Basil sure sniffed her face!! I think he wondered why she smelled of squirrel. He checked her all over and went back to the face. He is a good sniffer of boo boos but we decided he wasn't sniffing hard enough for her to have been wounded.
These squirrel pics are from today-not the day it fell (I am not even sure it is the same one). I am real happy they turned out. I was on one side of the fence taking through the wire. It is so hard to tell if you are focusing on the squirrel or just getting the wire! I think it is a cute little fella.

Kaleidoscopes

I got a new program that I love! It makes kaleidoscopes in a blink of an eye. A far cry from th precision cutting and piecing of the "old" days!! Sarah (as you know if you read her blog) got me interested in this program and we have been having a blast with it! Here are some,I think it is a pretty good sampling of what you can do with it.
Note on the last picture there is a logo. If you just want to play with the program without purchasing you can but the logo will appear on it.

The Hawk

This morning the hawk was in my tree. This is a good thing and a bad thing. Good because I get to get a good picture, bad because it is hanging around the feeder hoping to get a meal.

I was all worried about the bird next to the hawk but I didn't need to be at all. That silly bird actually chased the hawk out of the tree!
